The schematic design sketches shown on this page
are from a group of elevation studies I drew for a house I designed
for clients of architect Jon Lipman. Jon, who happened to be immersed
with other design work at the time, generously gave me the opportunity
to devise the floor plans and to set the theme for the overall appearance
of the house.
With a strong direction from the client, the structure
took on a regal quality. Fortunately the owners have not only a
wonderful appreciation of aesthetics, but also a firm understanding
of the evolutionary, progressive nature of the development of architectural
design. They fully understand the relationship between design and
the architectural details that support the design. This house, especially
with its siting on a strikingly beautiful landscape, would be an
absolute delight to live in. It was a joy to work on this project.
