LiveWire
Advisor Users' Guide
Welcome to the LiveWire Advisor User's Guide. Reading this
brief Users' Guide will help you get the most from the LiveWire
Advisor. For quick access, position your mouse over section
of the Advisor screen in which you are interested, or use
one of the links below the screen image.

Introduction
The
LiveWire Advisor
is a software program that operates in Windows 95/98/M.E.,
and works by closely communicating with a cluster of powerful
servers located in CableSoft's offices. In this client-server
configuration, CableSoft's LiveWire servers store all historical
data, and are able to instantly provide current quotes, historical
charts, and real-time, tick-by-tick filtering. The LiveWire
Advisor was designed by active traders to give you the tools
you need to quickly spot profit opportunities, perform technical
analyses before making trades, and watch the performance of
stocks that you are considering trading.
The
most distinguishing feature, and the most powerful feature
of the LiveWire Advisor is its filtering capabilities. CableSoft
has developed proprietary software that allows for the real-time,
tick-by-tick filtering of the 2,000 most active stocks. With
the LiveWire Advisor, you can select from the list of different
filters - now at 41 and growing, and combine up to five at
a time, to quickly identify stocks whose performance matches
your trading criteria. These results are presented to you
on the LiveWire Advisor screen approximately 1 second after
the transaction took place on the exchange floor. This incredibly
fast filtering results gives you a significant advantage--
you can quickly spot buying and selling opportunities before
the rest of the market rushes in. Once you become familiar
with the different filters, and learn how to combine them
in coincidence lists, you will be able to select the filters
that best match your trading strategy. Combining the filter
results with quick access to detailed historical charts and
technical analysis further increases your confidence before
placing your trade orders.

Subscribing
In order to subscribe to the LiveWire Advisor, you will need
an Internet connection (for example, AOL, MCI, Sprint, EarthLink).
Then you need an account with CableSoft. To establish an account
with CableSoft, you need to download
and install LiveWire Internet. Once you install and run
LiveWire Internet, you will be able to make an account, which
involves creating a User ID and Password, entering name and
address information, reviewing and agreeing to exchange agreements
online, and entering a credit card to buy time online. Once
you have downloaded the software, going through the process
of establishing an account and buying time usually takes 5-10
minutes. Once an account is established, your credit card
is usually processed within 5-10 minutes during market hours,
and you will be up and running. Once you have successfully
set up an account with LiveWire Internet, you can then run
LiveWire Advisor, using the same User ID and Password.
Note:
Users who are considered professionals by the exchanges cannot
use the online click-on agreements, and must print out and
fax in signed agreements. Click
for details.
Startup
takes a maximum of 1- 4 business days. This allows for all
"Original Signature" Contract pages, Exchange Contracts, and
payment in advance to be processed. Then, you are provided
with a User ID, IP address, and Password. Currently, the sign-up
for the service is done in the "LiveWire for Internet" program.
Once setup and authorized in this program you should be able
to start and run the LiveWire Advisor with no problems.

Setup
Click the 'Setup' button to change the display colors and
font sizes and set alert sounds. The 'Connect' button name
displays 'Red' if there is no connection, or the 'Stop' button
has been pressed. If there is an active connection, it shows
green. There is also a small indicator light on the left that
flashes during operation - it shows red if there is no connection,
and pulses green when on and running. It appears yellow during
the log-on process.
-
Click
the 'Connect' button to:
- Check on the connection status
- Enter the Login dialog to enter your User ID and Password
- View your account information and exchange authorizations
- See an 'about' box on this program
- Get system information
on your computer

Basic
Operation
The LiveWire Advisor program consists of a main window and
a separate Alerts panel. The main window is setup with three
resizable sub-windows, or panes. The top left window has tabs
that let you select several views of information on the LiveWire
Advisor filters, Alert Settings, Coincidence Lists, Authors,
and current real-time Author Filter Results. The top right
window displays graphs. The bottom window has three tabs that
allow you to display a Watch List, Portfolios, or an Alert
Log.
The
LiveWire Advisor makes extensive use of the "fly-over"
help and both the left and right mouse buttons. You can quickly
find out more about a command or a label by just pointing
your mouse to the object at question. If fly-over help is
available, it will appear in a small box near your cursor.
The left mouse button executes commands associated with the
current mouse location. Pressing the right mouse button, when
positioned over a stock symbol, will pull up a menu that allows
you to choose to Graph (graph the current symbol), Quote (pulls
up a Quick Quote window), Put In Watch List, or Company Info
(links to a Zacks.com Web page with information on the company).
You
can also use the right mouse click to insert and delete symbols
in the Watch List.
To
see which stocks are currently meeting a particular filter's
criteria, simply click on the name of the portfolio in the
Alert Settings window. Selecting or highlighting a different
portfolio changes the list of symbols, which updates dynamically
as the selected filter screens the market and sends the results
to the LiveWire Advisor. The stocks that meet the currently
selected filter's criteria appear to the right of the filter
list. If you wish to customize
the display columns, press the left mouse key with the mouse
pointer on the column name. A list pops up that has all of
the column field possibilities. Use the mouse or arrow keys
to chose a new field.
Once
you have the portfolio fields setup to your liking, click
on the 'Customize Display' button (located on the top panel).
A window opens that displays the both the descriptions of
the filter portfolio and fields. You can also get the portfolio
info by clicking the right mouse button on a filter name in
the filter list, or clicking the title label. The fitter portfolios
update approximately once a second. Because the portfolio
are dynamic, they reflect changing conditions tick-by-tick
- you see the list changing, moving, adding, and deleting
symbols. The filter portfolios are sorted in most active order.
That puts the 'best' candidates at the top. For example, the
'200DMAV' filter lists the stocks that are trading above their
200 day moving average, with the largest spread listed first.

Alert
Panel
The Alert Panel displays stocks that meet the criteria of
the filters you have checked in the Alert Settings window.
It will automatically appear above the main LiveWire Advisor
window whenever a stock meets the criteria of one of the filters
you have checked in the Alert Settings window. You can close
the Alert Panel by clicking on the "X" on the upper
left corner. You can display the Alert Panel at any time by
simply pressing the "L" button located in the top
portion of the LiveWire Advisor window. You can turn audible
alarm announcements ON and OFF by clicking on the speaker
on the left margin of the Alert Panel.
To
be alerted to to which stocks meet a particular filter's criteria,
simply check the box next to the filter's name in the Alert
Settings tab window. Once set, the Alert Panel will display
an alarm box for each stock that met the filter's criteria.
The
alerts appear in a small box on the left side of the Alert
Panel, the first alert shown on the top (like a deck of cards).
When you move your mouse into the alert box two buttons appear
that lets you acknowledge the alert or delete it. Clicking
on 'OK' in the alert box acknowledges the alert, and places
it to the right in an acknowledged box, which we will call
an alert box. Once acknowledged, the next alert shows. If
you click on the "Acknowledge All" button, all of
the alerts will display to the right, and the audible alerts
will discontinue. If you click the "Clear Alert List"
all of the alert boxes will be cleared.
When
viewing an alert box, you can also click on the "Graph", "Q/G",
"Ins", and "Del" labels that appear in individual boxes as
you move the mouse cursor into it. Clicking on the "Q/G" label
pops up the "Quick Quote / Graph" window that retrieves a
full quote on the symbol and also plots the most current 20
bars of the time frame you select. This is a fast way to check
out a symbol. As alerts arrive, there is an alert sound and
a voice that announces the type of filter that caused the
alert - the left alert box flashes and changes color. You
can set various sounds for the initial alert warning, and
also turn off the sounds. Go to the Setup screen to set these.
There is also a sound on/off button on the left side of the
Alert Panel.
Filtering
Basics
Filtering is the most powerful and most unique feature of
LiveWire Advisor. It offers a level of stock scanning considerably
more sophisticated that scanning offered by other companies,
plus it is done in real time, instead of every 5, 10, 15,
30 or 60 minutes. CableSoft has banks of powerful servers
that perform the filter equations on each stock transaction
for the most active 2,000 symbols. Stocks whose current transaction
cause the stock to meet the filter's equation criteria are
reported to LiveWire Advisor within 1-2 seconds of the actual
transaction-- that is fast! This speed gives you an advantage--
you can quickly spot buying and selling opportunities prior
to the masses.
With
LiveWire Advisor, you can use filters in two different ways.
You can use them individually, and have alarms pop up that
tell you when stocks meet a filter's criteria. The second
way you can filter is by using the Coincidence Lists (see
below). The Coincidence Tabs let you customize ten different
Coincidence Lists, each with up to five different filter combinations.
You select a Coincidence Tab, and then select 1-5 different
filters. When the tab is selected, you can view all of the
stocks whose current activity triggers all of the selected
filters. For example, for Coincidence List 1 (CL1) you may
select the BLOCKTRD, AT52LOW and GAP-UP, and a refresh rate
of 10 seconds. That means that every 10 seconds the list of
symbols in CL1 would be only those stocks that Gapped up,
are at or near their 52 week low, and are experiencing unusual
heavy block trading activity. By creatively selecting different
filter combinations, you are in effect creating different
market entry/exit timing strategy tools.

Filter
Summary
Directly below the LiveWire Advisor logo, there is a button
titled 'Filter Summary' that you can click on to see a summary
of the top four symbols that appear in each Filter portfolio.
Clicking this button pops up a window that displays three
summary views:
- Filter
and symbol List
- Bar
graph type display of symbol current performance
- List
of symbol that appear in more than one filter.
The
top view is an alphabetical listing of all of the Filter portfolios
with the top four symbols listed to the right. To the right
of this display is a readout of the current t price volume
information at the time the list appears of the selected symbol.
Highlighting a new symbol either by clicking on it or using
the arrow keys changes the price / volume display to the new
symbol. Below the filter summary list is a graphical display
that reflects the performance of the individual symbols in
the summary list. This lets you see a 'view of the forest'
and see which filter groups are doing well as well as the
general market. As you change the symbol highlighted in the
top summary list there is a vertical cursor drawn in the graph
view synchronizing the two views. You can also click on a
line in the graph view and the top list repositions and shows
the filter/symbol the graph cursor is on. In the graph view,
lines above the zero line is positive performance and below
negative. The line height represents the percent change from
yesterdays close. This graph view lets you see quickly the
strength / weakness of a wide range of filters. Some by definition,
like the GAPUP filter, will normally be positive. What can
very interesting is when some of the filters that normally
show negative, like the 'Below 200 day MA' , start having
symbols with positive excursions showing a possible breakout.
The height of the lines is the percentage change from yesterdays
close to the current last price. Below the graph summary is
a list of symbols that appear in more than one filter, with
the highest count at the top. In the two list views, right
clicking on a symbol brings up other operations you can do.
Double clicking loads the symbol graph in the main window.
At the top of the Filter Summary display is a refresh button
that lets refresh the summary list. Clicking on it updates
the list with new symbols that are in the top four positions
of the filters plus gets the latest price / volume information
for these symbols at the time of the refresh.

You can obtain a full quote on any symbol in the portfolio
list by clicking on the 'Quote' button in the top panel. Once
in the Quote Window, you can also get quotes on any symbol,
even if they do not appear in a portfolio. You can also use
the Quote window to enter new symbols into the Watch List.
In the right side of the Quote Window is a short graph showing
the symbols last 20 bars in any time frame you select. You
can also click on the 'Graph in Main Display' to see a full
graph of the symbol and corresponding technical analysis on
it.

Stop (disconnect from the CableSoft servers), or Restart (connect
again to the CableSoft servers).

Help
Button
Press the Help button for a page describing the various features
of LiveWire Advisor.

Alert
Settings
The Alert Setting window shows an alphabetical list of the
current LiveWire filters, with check boxes to the left of
the filter name. Click on the checkbox to the left of each
filter name if you want to be alerted when symbols meet the
filter's criteria. To view all of the symbols that are currently
meeting a filter's criteria, click on the filter name to select
it. The selected filter is identified by a blue select bar.
To the right of the filter list you will see a list of the
stocks that meet the filter's criteria. Note: this list is
a static list, generated at the time you last selected the
filter. If you wish to view an automatically refreshing list,
use the Coincidence List, described directly below.

Coincidence
List
The
second tab in the first window - the Coincidence List view,
lets you screen the current filters using coincident or 'ANDing'
logic. Select This portfolio view lets you look for symbols
that appear in more than one filter. To use this portfolio,
first select it's by clicking on the Coincidence Port tab.
The list of filters show with an empty check box next to it.
Check which filters you want to check to see if the same symbol
appears in it. You are limited to 5 check box selections.
When finished with the selections click on the Update label
to retrieve the coincident symbols. Once the list fills in
(assuming there were symbols returned) the program updates
the data on the symbols. The list does not change dynamically
- it only checks for a change in coincidence if you click
on the Update List label. If you right click on a column in
the Coincidence List View you can sort the display either
in ascending or descending order. This lets you rank the results.
The last two tabs in the first window show you information
the authors that contributed the filters.

Authors
Click on the Authors tab to see a list of the filter authors.
Select an author's tab and you will see a list of the filters
they have authored, as well as their name, e-mail address,
and Website address if appropriate.

Author
Filter Results
Click on the Author Filter Results page to see the filters
specific to each author. Select one of an author's filters
and the results of the selected filter will appear in the
adjacent window. The Author Filter Results tab also shows
a photo of the author (if available), and the author's e-mail
and website addresses.

Watch
List
To put a symbol in the Watch List, select a symbol in one
of the Alert or Coincidence portfolios and press the right
mouse key on the symbol and select "Put in Watch List". You
will notice other possibilities in the pop-up list that appears
that let you do other operations on the symbol, like viewing
a fundamental data pop-up window that has a top level summary
of the S&P Stock database. You can also enter symbols into
the watch list from the quote window, or from the Watch List
itself by using the right mouse key. Doing so in the Watch
List pops up the 'Quick Quote' display. It lets you get a
full quote and a 20 bar graph of hourly, daily or weekly data
on any symbol - then you can enter it into the Watch List.
If the Watch List view is not displayed, press the 'Watch
List' tab to view the symbols in the Watch List Once in the
Watch List portfolio, you can sort the list by any of the
columns in either ascending or descending order. To sort the
list, put the mouse cursor on the column name, and click the
right mouse to choose sort direction. You can change the column
fields in the Watch List portfolio by clicking on a column
name with the left mouse key. This functions only on columns
2 to 8. The columns after this are fixed as they show the
evaluation fields. Columns 9 to 13 reflect fields that show
how the symbol has performed since entering the Watch List,
such as Gain / Loss, price when entered, max/min values, and
from what filter did the symbol come from. The watch list
refreshes its information about once every second. The last
price shown in the Watch List for a symbol highlights and
colors dynamically as it updates. Red indicates that the price
is less than yesterdays close, and green above.

Alert
Log
The Alert Log is a chronological list of symbols that have
triggered your Alert Settings. The Alert Log shows you the
symbol, which filter the symbol triggered, and the date and
time the symbol triggered the filter. From this screen you
can quickly view a current quote, print a graph, or add the
symbol to the Watch List.

Graph
Window
The right most top window in the LiveWire Advisor display
is the graph of a symbol that you have selected in one of
the portfolio views, from the pop-up Quote Window, or from
one of the Alert Boxes. The graph display lets you see charts
in any time frame and in a combination of display formats.
To graph a symbol either click on it, or press the right mouse
key with the mouse cursor on the symbol name and select 'Graph'.
Once in the graph, you can change the time frame of the graph
to: Intraday, hourly, daily, or weekly. Just click on the
time frame to change. You can expand and contract the display
of the chart by pressing the left mouse button with the mouse
in the date area of the chart - moving the mouse left / right
expands / contracts the graph. Resizing the chart (by moving
the sides with the mouse cursor) lets you customize the display
size. In the graph display you can select the type of bar
display, including candlestick charts, bar charts, and line
graphs. Click on the BarStyle button at the bottom of the
graph and make your selection.

Full
Graph
This tab, on the side of the graph window, causes the currently
selected symbol to be graphed in the full-screen mode. Note
that along the bottom you can select Analysis,
Bar Style, or Time
Frame (Intraday, Hourly, Daily or Weekly). Pressing the
"R" button will cause a Readout window to pop up,
which will show you the price and volume information for the
graph cursor's current position. Pressing the "E"
button will cause the size of the graph window to expand and
contract. If you want to dynamically zoom in and out on a
graph, move the cursor until you are in the horizontal margin
area directly below the graph. A moveable double arrow will
appear, with one end pointing left, and the other pointing
right. Drag your mouse left or right to zoom in and out of
the graph.

Graph
Study
Selecting the Graph Study tab on the Graph Window will generate
a split screen, with the current symbol's graph on the top
half, and the current technical study on the bottom half.
Once on this screen, you can change the study in two ways.
First, you will notice at the bottom of the screen there are
two buttons, one with an up-pointing triangle, and one with
a down-pointing triangle. Press either of these triangles
to scroll through the technical studies using the current
default values for each study. Alternatively, you can press
the Analysis button, and select from the list of available
technical studies. Once you select a study, the software will
prompt you for any variable settings.

TS1
This shows a screen that shows the symbol's graph on the upper
left, with one main study underneath the symbol's graph, and
four additional studies graphed in a smaller size on the right
size of the graph. You can easily change which technical study
is in each of windows by pressing down on the right mouse
button when positioned over a particular study graph, and
then selecting the new study from a pop-up list.

TS2
This graph view shows the symbol's graph on the upper left,
with a comparable-sized technical study graph immediately
underneath, and six small technical study windows on the right
side of the graph window. You can change the technical study
in any of the windows by pressing down on the right mouse
button and selecting a new study. Also, if you click on one
of the small studies, it appears underneath the symbol's chart
in larger size.

Analysis
in the Graph Window
The Analysis button below the graph lets you put moving averages,
channels, Blonder bands, and in the appropriate window, technical
studies. The description below covers the graph views that
let you enter / view the technical studies. Looking at the
graph display you notice that there are tabs to its left.
These tabs let you quickly select various views of the graph
including multiple study windows in some case. When you select
'Graph/Study', 'TS1', or the 'TS2' view, you can modify the
technical studies show. There are two ways to do this - right
clicking in a study window pops up the list of technical studies
that you can use in the window. (right clicking on the main
graph pops up the moving average and channel setup window
for the main graph) The second way is to click on the 'Analysis'
label and select 'Tech Studies'. Once you select which tech
study you want an entry screen appears for changing the default
settings on the study technical parameters. Some studies have
no settings to change (like On Balance Volume) so when you
click on the 'OK' button the study immediately displays. There
are currently 35 technical studies available for use on any
graph, with more planned in the future. I the Graph/Study
window you will see a Up/Dn set of arrows next to the 'Analysis'
label. Clicking on these brings up a different study window.
You can have six different studies for analysis and viewing.
In the next two graph windows, TS1 and TS2, you see all 6
studies at once. You can resize any of these windows to your
liking. However, if you resize the whole graph window, the
program tries to display the windows with equal proportions.
In the TS1 and TS2 windows you will note a window highlight
that lets you know which window is affected when you change
a tech study through the use of the Analysis menu. You can
however just right click on the study window and the choice
list of Technical Studies pops up. Any changes you make are
saved so that the next time you enter the program the settings
will be the same. Time Frame in Graph Window Press either
the 'Intraday, Hourly, Daily, or Weekly' labels under the
graph to change the time frame of the Graph Display. The Intraday
graph lets you chose from 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 60
minute bars. Lower Watch List Window The lower window is a
Watch List for symbols that you are interested in. You fill
it by inserting symbols there from those appearing in Alert
Lists that you are interested in, or by manually typing their
symbol name in the Quote Window.

Bar
Style
Click on Bar Style to change the graph display to Bar, Candlestick,
or Line style.

Time
Frame
Directly underneath the graph there are three buttons that
allow you to change the time frame for the graph: Intraday,
Hourly, Daily, and Weekly. To change the time frame, simply
click on the desired time frame, and the graph for that time
frame will be displayed.
If
you want to change the intraday time frame, first click on
Intraday to display the graph in the default time frame (the
current graph's time frame is displayed in the lower right
corner of the graph). Once you are viewing an intraday graph,
click again on Intraday, and a box will open up that allows
you to enter in a number from 1 to 60, or you can use up and
down pointing triangles to increment/decrement the number.
Once you have selected the number you want, press the ENTER
key to accept it, and a new intraday graph will be displayed
with the selected time frame.
